Climate change, droughts and the increasing demand for water
Australia is facing major challenges due to climate change, drought and the increasing demand for water. In response, the Australian Government is investing $12.9 billion in Water for the future - a 10 year initiative to prepare Australia for the future with less water.

Water for the future is built on four key priorities:

  • Taking action on climate change – how do we continue to supply water?
  • Using water wisely – ensuring a sustainable use of this precious resource
  • Securing water supplies – ensuring there is enough water for all
  • Supporting healthy rivers and wetlands – what can we do?

Water for the future will help to secure water supplies for Australian households, businesses and farmers, as well as provide water to restore the health of Australia’s stressed rivers, waterways and wetlands. What are we to do?

Join the catchment creatures and investigate water sustainability.
